Rye

Rye, just a short drive away, is an unspoilt medieval town with restaurants, teashops, pubs and a plethora of antique shops and second hand shops. It is home to St Mary's Church, a Grade I listed church with a unique high viewing tower and the Ypres Tower and Rye Castle Museum and a state-of-the-art cinema, the Kino, located in the heart of Rye which has a stylish cafe-bar and sunny terrace.

Camber Sands

Camber Sands is 10 minutes drive away. It is a the only beach in East Sussex with stretches of golden sand, vast dunes and stunning views - perfect for a stroll, a picnic or a day at the beach.  Enjoy some wind surfing, kite surfing or swimming (just remember to stay between the flags). This beautiful beach is even dog friendly.

Local Vineyards

The area provides an excellent terrain for English wine production and the vineyards of Oxney, Chapel Down and Gusborne are nearby. The volunteer run Kent and East Sussex steam railway line is local and provides a wonderful excursion through the garden of England, ending right next to the fairy tale environment of the National Trust Bodiam Castle.

Eating & Drinking

There are a number of excellent restaurants and pubs in close proximity. We love The Gallivant Hotel (smart - excellent cuisine) at Camber Sands, The Tillingham at Peasmarsh (fabulous venue, atmospherics and food) and The Globe-Inn-Marsh (good pub grub with fun design) at Rye.

" We ate at the Fig, Whitehouse Rye and Tillingham all were brilliant and really well priced."
